How to choose a doctor in Armenia

Finding the right doctor can feel hard, especially in a new city or for a new kind of problem. A few simple questions make the choice easier and help you feel confident before the first visit.
- Start with the right kind of specialist. If you are not sure who to see, a family doctor or a general practitioner at a polyclinic can be a good first step and can refer you to another specialist if needed.
- Check the licence. Medical organisations in Armenia need an activity licence, which is listed in the official public register at e-license.am. On Doctor Armenia, the “Licence verified” badge means we checked the documents before publishing the page.
- Think about language. Many doctors in Armenia speak Armenian and Russian, and some also speak English, French or Arabic. Being able to explain things in your own language makes a real difference, so look at the languages listed on each page.
- Look at location and opening hours. A clinic close to home or work is easier to reach for follow-up visits. Check that it is open on the days and at the times that suit you.
- Call before you go. Ask how to book, how long the wait for an appointment usually is and what you should bring. The way a clinic answers simple questions tells you a lot.
- Ask people you trust, but decide for yourself. Recommendations from family and friends are useful, but every person’s needs are different.
- Feel comfortable. A good doctor listens, explains clearly and answers your questions. If you do not feel heard, it is normal to look for another doctor or to ask for a second opinion.
